kenyans now opt for railway transport as the festive season reaches its peak. Following congestion on the road due to a high number of people travelling, many people travelling up country have now opted for train service.

with the Kisumu and Nanyuki trains being latest on the service list, the Kenya Railways Authority now reports a great increase in the number of people travelling by rail. They say there has been the greatest demand for train tickets this festive season.

Amidst the high train ticket demand, the Kisumu-Nairobi train is now fully booked till the 31st of December 2021. This occurs a day after the train reportedly stalled on its way to Kisumu at Muhoroni. The train stalled at Tamu in Muhoroni after one of it’s wagons derailed. The problem was however proclaimed to be small and was resolved in an hour. The long journeys have in a way contributed to slower transport but many say it’s better than the road.

With this trend, the Railways Authority hopes to generate more money from it’s lines and looks forward to revive more of of it’s forgotten lines.
